HOMOrous’ humble beginnings

Before HOMOrous was HOMOrous, these comics started out as cards for my family’s birthdays and holidays.  As my family laughed and began to look forward to these frugal cards, little homo got braver and decided to branch out to reflect on more than just my family dynamics.

My how little homo has grown

Little homo gradually became like my Johnny Cricket, always in my shirt pocket, reminding me to see the humor, and the homos, everywhere I go… through laughter, through annoyance, and sometimes through tears.  That’s when I love little homo the most.  By helping me to see and experience the joy and laughter that exists right alongside the pain or hurt, little homo teaches me to be more present in my life in a way that I aspire to be.  I had no idea this little guy would offer me so much.

What are you laughing at?

Honestly, nothing gives me more perspective or happiness than laughing at myself.  And well, also sometimes laughing at us and yes, occasionally at you.  If it ever seems like I’m laughing at you, know that it is never with meanness. It is with camaraderie, and community, and with joy at the funny things that make us all so incredibly human, and such incredibly hot homos.

How to read HOMOrous

Each comic is meant to stand alone, but they are also in some kind of sequence that I’m beginning to think of as little homo’s life.  I love watching little HOMOrous develop, and seeing the themes that connect over the years.  It’s interesting to me that a comic I thought of years ago seems to go so smoothly with one from yesterday.  So feel free to enjoy each comic on its own, and if you ever feel like a project and you’re new to HOMOrous, try reading them from oldest to newest.
